These two weeks I have been in charge of the meal: to take it from the hotel, separated and take it to the place. Thus I have also been helping to organize the delivery of food and workshops that was done this Saturday July 25 at "La Aurora" because Ericka (the coordinator) was in The United States.

By this I could noticed that it is not easy to be a coordinator. I have to watch every detail and that the food must reach to all who attend. In these two weeks it is "opened" a new place to still pursuing social work. This new place is in Urdesa but later, at 10:15 aproximately.

This Saturday we went to "La Aurora". We were there at 8:00 and we return to the church at 2:00 p.m. At the begining it that kind of hard to organized the people that attend because there are too many people that really needs our help or they just need somebody to talk.
During our stay we share food, play with children and talked with parents about the materials that children need to attend classes and what they need to improve their school because we want to start a new project to improve schools in "La Aurora" .

We finish the day make some dinamics. I think they really enjoy this day.
When we return to the church we talk about what we have done all day with the people in "La Aurora" and each group have very important things to contribute with.

NOt have Tv

I decided not to have Tv in my bedroom, that's my first input because most of my free time I spend it watching tv or sleeping intead of doing something that will really help me in my development.

I noticed that during all this time I have being a big consumer but now I have learn that we have and to produce something to not waste our time, not even others time and work. Now I write here and everybody can read it. And hopefuly something can learn even a little bit about it.

Pan para mi hermano

Perform social work in "Pan para mi hermano" was a positive and enriching experience for me, in my way of thinking about the real needs of some people that most of the time we believe they are not close to us when it is really the opposite because the porcetage of the low-income people in our country is higher than the one of the people that have basic needs.

One week I help in the organization of the dinner party for all the people that go constantly to receive the food with their families. this was a hard work because we need to find people or organizations that wanted to contribute with food or with money to prepare the food. Some people and organizations refused to provide help and that was, somehow, that made us despair because we needed certain amount of food that no one is left without eating that day.

Investigation of the truth

Our topic this week is investigation of the truth, so why have I asked you to watch videos about diet in order to begin to explore this topic?

I think it was bacause of the consequences of our actions, that also affect the eating habits of many people. The reading Investigation of Truth explains why we have to worry about the society and not only as individuals.

Each of us are responsible of our actions. we have to care about the society and try to improve it.

Pan Para Mi Hermano

I decided to work in "Pan Para Mi Hermano" which is an aid program run by the Catholic group "Movimiento de Vida Cristiana"(MVC) which started in Lima, Peru. Pan Para mi Hermano is run by young people who want to contribute to society and share what they have; they do this work in 10 de agosto y García Avilés, next to “El Telégrafo”.

The leader of the group is named Ericka Sánchez and she is supported by Alvaro Flores. Both Ericka and Alvaro, are supported by the directors of MVC of the city and the church of Samborondón. This program is focused on helping low-income people to increase their faith, and they are also give food when the activity is finished. The food is donated by the Unihotel and members of MVC.

A group of assistants work with the children, playing, drawing or just talking with them. Another group talk with the older people and not just about faith because they think that we all have something to tell about what we have done during the weekend.
Normally, I always play with the kids because that is what I love to do: Spend my time with kids. I always learn about them, not only adults have something to teach to the kids.

They do this activity all the weeks and there is not only one group. Even for Christmas they do some activities for them.

DeTodas

Go to the cooperative was a non common experience because I had the opportunity to speak with an enterprising woman who due to various situations and the current situation in which the country is now and she had to find a new home for their income and pursue their plans in life.

In DeTodas I talk with Betty Arroyo Cevallos who has been here 3 years but has also helped in the fondation of the church near her home. I asked her how it was to become part of this cooperatva and she told me that DeTodas visited her comminity and they explained the program of credits and that she only have t give $100. Now, she is the inspector this fondation.

Then I ask her what she considers is the best of DeTodas and she told me the qualification they have, that they worries about the enterprise, personal development and on their self-esteem.

Betty said thay her business is now a success and she is happy with the changes.
